MS Office Forum / Word / Graphics / December 2003Equation Position in Word 2002 ('character')??
Is there a way to configure Word 2002 so that equations are inserted as "in-line" (character anchor)? So far, I have had no luck in getting this to work. With Word 97, Equations could be inserted with a default position of character (which is just right for math handouts and tests). However, with Word 2002, this does not seem to work at all -- the default is 'behind text' (or some such), which is not logical. If I change the Options for inserting pictures as "in line", it looks like the box is inserted in-line but the contents are invisible (not logical either). I even tried downloading the support template from Microsoft to change the Equation Editor; however, that template does not work as advertised -- the equation editor option never appears in the 'support' template process. Frustrating! Anybody have a solution for me? Thanks! Jack Rotman rotmanj(take.this.out)@lcc.edu I am using Word 2002, with "In Line with Text" set as the default format for inserted/pasted graphics, and my EE objects are inserted inline to begin with. If you're getting inline objects but can't see them, check to make sure that "Picture placeholders" is *not* checked on the View tab of Tools | Options. -- Suzanne S. For some reason, the "picture placeholder" was turned on (I would never want it turned on); as soon as I turned the placeholder off, the equation boxes are visible in line. I was thrown off by the fact that Word did not use the placeholder for all pictures or equations -- just some. Equations that were not in-line always showed ... clip-art always showed ... other pictures from files always showed. I guess life does not have to be logical -- it just has to work. Thanks again. When you say "Options", you're talking about the "Options" item on Word's Tools menu, right? Like Suzanne, I have mine set up like this: on Tools > Options on the Edit tab the item "Insert/paste pictures as:" says "In line with text". Is that what yours says, and you're still having the problem?
