I have some Word 95 files a friend typed in chinese.
previously i have been able to open them in word 2K on my
machine. but now the chinese is just times new roman
english junk. i can't think of anything i have changed -
it has been some months since i worked in chinese.

I am using win 2K on one PC and XP on another. both have
asian language support installed from settings/control
panel/ regional options/ language support.

can anyone help?

Not sure if this helps--
Open Word's Options dialog box, in the General tab, find "English Word
6.0/95 Documents"
Is "Automatically detect Asian Text" selected?
