Hi

I am using WORD 2002, WIN XP.

why is it that i cannot see and use "IME" if i choose Simplified
Chinese (Singapore) ? The keyboard is US. As such, i cannot type
chinese char in Word 2002.

But when i choose Simplified Chinese (PRC), the keyboard is set to
MS PinYin IME 3.0. Only then i can type chinese char in Word 2002.

Why is this the case and what is the diff ?

Thank you
Boon Yiang

This is only the "defsult" input method that is added when you select the
default user locale. You can (separately) choose any IME or keybiard you
wish to install, and by this method you can add any keyboard or IME that you
want to use.

Hi Micheal

this is what i was expecting too. to be able to choose the "Keyboard
Layout/IME". But if the "input locale" = Chinese (Singapore), there is
no option for me to chose MS PINYIN under "Keyboard Layout/IME". This
option is only available if i choose "input locale" = Chinese (PRC).

This has to do with the input preferences list....

To work around it, you can either use an unattend file, or you can add the
US keyboard then try to add a second input language under the same locale --
it will then be the Pinyin choice.
