Hello, I have this problem:
I'm using Office Professional 2003 on WinXP with SP2. I was looking for an
Input Method Editor for Office 2003, but I could find none, ultil I "ran
into" Multilungual User Interface archive
(MUI2003SP1CD1-kb843187-client-enu.exe).
Is this MUI archive the right form me so that I can write in Japanese?
If it's correct, well, I can't install it!! I always receive this message:
"Office 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1) for Multilungual User Interface Pack. - The
expected version of the product was not found on your system."
How can I fix this?
Before I tried this MUI archive, I had installed these: "Office 2003 Service
Pack 1"
(Office2003SP1-kb842532-fullfile-esn.exe), 2 office updates
(Office2003-kb828041-client-ESN.exe and office2003-kb834691-client-esn.exe),
Office 2003 Web Components (OWC11.exe), and another 3 files (mosa_es.exe,
RHDTOOL.exe and STSTPKPL.exe).

MUI is not needed to get an IME, for either Windows or Office.

Your version of Windows in fat *has* a Japanese IME available. Just go to
the second tab of  "Regional and Language Options" from the Control Panel,
click on checkbox to "Install files for East Asian languages", reboot when
prompted, then go back to the second tab of "Regional and Language Options",
clisk the "Details..." button and choose to add a Japanese input method --
the IME will be the first choice.

I have a related but not quite similar problem. I had IME installed before,
so I know it can be done. I just had my CPU replaced and they had to do a
clean install of the operating system. I had backups of My Documnets, etc,
but not of Windows, since the Backup utility is not included in Windows. (To
install Backup, you must have a Windows installation CD, which I don't.) The
Microsoft website has IME downloads for all operating systems dating back to
Windows 95, except Windows XP Home. The website says that unless you have
Office XP, you should install the Microsoft IME (which is different than the
one for systems with Office XP)  from your Windows Installation disk (which I
don't have). This is stupid, since they handily provide the download online
for every other system.

If I try to install files for East Asian languages, it tells me to insert
the CD. Are there other IMEs (besides Microsoft's) which will work on Windows?
