Is there a German language converter that plugs in
seamlessly to word 97? How do I get it and is it a
Microsoft product. Can you switch between English and
German language with whatever product is recommended? Help
learning German and need this king of tool.

Your desire is not clear. Are you looking for

a) a German <-> English text translator;
b) German poroofing tools (spell-checker, grammar-checker, thesaurus,...);
c) the ability to switch the user interface between German and English?
d) or some combination fo the above?

For Office XP see

for some answers. You will find it harder to get plug-ins for Office 97.
