Dear Greg, that's not what I meant.
I need to number my pages according to their headings.
Project 1: A-1
Project 2: B-1 - 55
Project 3: C-1 - 99
Project 4: D-1 - 33
Tina,
Stay in the same thread with your follow up postings please.
So you want Project 1 pages numbered A-1 through A-whatever
Project 2 pages numbered B-1 thorugh B-whatever
Correct? Yes.
To get Word to automatically insert the "A, B, C, etc." you need to apply a
numbering to your Heading Sytles. A primer for doing this can be found at:
http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/numbering/OutlineNumbering.html
With this done, your Project 1 chapter heading will look like
A. Project 1.
When you format the page number select the option to "Include Chapter
Numbers."
You will need a section break next page at the end of each chapter so you
can use the Format Page number "Restart at" and select 1 in you new
chapters.

Greg, I am sorry, I did but it didn't work so I had to
write a new one. Looks like it works this time. Thank
you. I am going to print your instruction so I can read.
