Problem with Header4 Formatting

Hello

I have a problem with formatting the the fourth level of a heading.
The third level numbering, which is set to Outlined Numbering 1.1.1
format, works fine.
For example , I have a Heading 3 that shows 3.4.2

I now introduce Heading 4  which is set to Outlined Numbering 1.1.1.1.
When I select this after selecting Heading 3 in the above example  I
expect to see a heading with numbering 3.4.2.1, instead I see a heading
with number 1.1.1.1.

Appreciate any advise on how to resolve this
Many thanks
K

Hi K

You need to set up the numbering as shown at

How to create numbered headings or outline numbering in your Word
Document
http://www.ShaunaKelly.com/word/numbering/OutlineNumbering.html

When you come to do level 4 (for Heading 4), delete everything in the
number format box, and start again.

By the way, what you're seeing can happen if you try to fix the
numbering direct from a Heading 4 paragraph (which is entirely
intuitive, and the way you'd expect it to work, except that it doesn't
work!). So always make sure that, when you're trying to fix up your
numbering, you start with the cursor in a Heading 1 paragraph.

Hope this helps.
