All of the sudden, at the bottom of every Word 97
document, there is a long list (pages) of command words -
one word or string of word commands that relate to
formatting of the document.  This now occur at the end of
every document - possible in footnotes or endnotes.  We
have replaces "normal.doc" and the same thing occurs.  We
are hoping that there is something that we can toggle to
turn this off.  All assistance is greatly appreciated.

Hi String Bean,

Sounds like you have opened the document with the Recover text from any file
option in the Files of Type pull down in the File Open dialog.

Please post any further questions or followup to the newsgroups for the
benefit of others who may be interested.  Unsolicited questions forwarded
directly to me will only be answered on a paid consulting basis.

Hope this helps
