On multipage docs, I prepare with single-space typing and
some are later needed as double-spaced, so I edit, usually
with ctl-a (to select all text) and either ctl-2(for
double space - or format, paragraph etc.). Problem is
that some of the footnotes slip over to the next page. So
e.g. although I may have a superscript 3 for footnote 3
appearing on page 2, the actual footnote slips over to
become a footnote on page 3. I have tried altering
margins and various other things but nothing seems to
work. It is much easier to prepare in single space
because it's easier to read on the screen. Any
suggestions, please?

Hi Eric
I think footnote placement is more reliable if you can use 'Exact' spacing.
So try making your change from 'Single' to 'Exactly 24pt' - or whatever line
spacing you need - (in Format > Paragraph).
