the entry could either be very short or larger than one line, in any
case it ends before a <tab> entry before the flush-right tab (it might
be there even though it's not in the style, mind you, see:
Whenever I update my Table of Contents it acquires unwanted tabs, and I
have to press Ctrl+Q to get rid of them (by Dave Rado)
