A huge word document is divided into small files and each
file is formatted separately. After formatting when the
files are merged, using the file insert option the
formatting of the inserted file is reversed. i.e. all the
bold formats turns to normal and normal turns to bold. the
page setup and other settings are same in all the files.
even copy paste gives the same results. Is there any way
by which the formatting can be retained even after file
insertion?

Hi jsm

The issue here is about styles. It seems that the styles in the various
documents have been formatted differently. If a style is bold in one
document, but not bold in another, then copying from one to the other
"reverses" the bold (because the text takes on the formatting of the
recipient document).

More details and information about what to do is at

Why does text change format when I copy it from one document to another?

Hope this helps.
