I include headers and footers in work that I do.  In one
chapter I've been working on, the headers and footers are
visible.  In the next chapter they are not.  I would like
to be able to see page numbers as I work without going to
view and then opening headers and footers.  How can I do
this.  Thanks.

I take it that your chapters are separate files? It may be that the document
that is not showing headers and footers is in Normal view. Switching to
Print Layout (or Page Layout) view will display the whole page. If this is
Word 2002, it may be that headers and footers are hidden in Print Layout
view. Hover your mouse over the page break until you get a "Show White
Space" ScreenTip. Click the mouse and your header/footer will be displayed.
But you should be able to see your page numbers at the bottom of the screen
on the Status Bar.
