Styles question

I have a long Word document which I use every day. I've
had the usual styles problems that uneducated Word users
have, but I think I've educated myself out of them.
Except ...

When I opened the Styles and Formatting task pane, I used
to be able to right-click on a style and Select All
(first menu item) paragraphs formatted with that Style.
Now, however, that first option is always grayed and
reads, "Select All: Not Currently Used," even when the
cursor is resting on a paragraph formatted with that
Style.

I've tried repairing Detect and Repair; no change.  I've
checked other Word documents and the Select All option is
always grayed.

Any ideas on how to restore this function?

This feature is not available unless you have "Keep track of formatting"
checked on the Edit tab of Tools | Options.
