I format body text to have a space before and after of 6pt. The actual
distance in between paragraphs is only 6 - it does NOT pick up the
'before' when in succession, only when after a heading. This holds true
for my headings too, they do not have the total space above which I
would expect if I set at 12pt and the previous paragraph has a 6pt after
then there should be a total of 18pt in between. Is this new to Word
XP?
Thanks

In Word XP there is an additional setting in Format Paragraph for the style
' Do not add space between paragraphs of the same style'. You can uncheck
this to ensure the space is additive.

On the Compatibility tab of Tools | Options, check the box for "Don't use
HTML paragraph auto spacing."
