How do I get Connectors in Word 2000 ?
Charles Kenyon - 29 Jan 2004 23:51 GMT
I believe you have to draw lines. I suspect that Visio provides connectors,
but that is a separate program.

I do hope not - that will take forever, they won't be
linked and it will be a complete mess.......
Thanks for replying.

Word is _not_ a drawing program. It's a word processing program.

You can link them with grouping but it is not the same.

Are you using Connectors from the AutoShapes menu? They should work. In Word
2002, you have to enable the drawing canvas to make them work.

Thanks for your message........
Problem is that the connectors are not available from the
autoshapes menu in Office 2000 (Word) although they are
for Excel and Powerpoint but what's this about the drawing
canvas.....?
It could be that they simply are not an option on the
version of Word I'm using.
Thanks for your help Suzanne.

I'm hoping someone else will chime in here; I missed Word 2000, jumping
straight from Word 97 to 2002, but in Word 97 it was necessary to install MS
PhotoDraw (I believe that was the name of the app) in order to use
connectors. It may be that there is some similar requirement in Word 2000.
In any case, you'll be much more likely to attract the attention of people
who know if you will post in microsoft.public.word.drawing.graphics, to
which I am cross-posting this reply.

In Word2003 - as far I remember  in 2002 also, there are connectors in
AutoShapes.  Personally I don?tlike them but prefer to draw lines when the
task is special organization charts.
(I do have PhotoDraw in the Win98Boot).

Yes, there are connectors in Word 2002 and 2003, and you have to have the
drawing canvas enabled to use them. But that was not the issue: the issue is
how to use connectors in Word 2000.
