ARRGH! Text wrapping in XP!!!

I am at my wits' end here.

I am trying to drag a picture/drawing object/whatever
into a specific position within the document text.

(It's a graphic of my signature for when I send letters
in Word format through email.)

I...JUST...CAN'T...GET...THE...DAMN...THING...TO...GO...IN
...THE...RIGHT...PLACE!!!!

I have looked in the MS KB (ha!) and online, and can find
nothing. I have tried every text wrapping and "Format
Picture" option I can think of, and I still can't get it
to go where I want unless I do it *just right* after
trying about a zillion times.

In fact, if I place it on the page and press the down
button, it will go down. If I press up, it will go down,
and if I press left or right, it will still go down!!

Can anyone PLEASE help me? Why can't I just drag it where
I want to? What am I doing wrong???

Assuming you're attaching your Word doc to your email and
not using Word as your Outlook email editor (in which case
I can't guarantee my advice...)

Try Format, Picture, Layout, In Line with Text. This
should enable you to place it on your page where you would
normally 'sign' it with a pen. The In Line With Text
option effectively makes the picture behave like it's a
bit of text. It *shouldn't* move. Good luck and keep

Set the signature graphic layout as 'in-line'. Select and save the graphic
as an autotext entry and insert the autotext to place the signature at the
cursor (or save it as a formatted autocorrect using -say- your initials as a
shortcut)
