Can I freely delete those ~______.tmp files Word creates, whenever I
want?  Or must I should leave them on my hard disk?  Over time, many
of them appear and they don't always get deleted automatically by
Word.

Thanks,
-Phil

Any files that you *can* delete it is okay to delete (you'll get an error
message if you try to delete one that's in use). When Word is closed, you
should be able to delete all of them, especially after a Windows reboot,
which should release them all.
