Styles change when I update my T.O.C.

I have changed the font in style TOC1 in the style sheet from times
new roman to arial. When I make changes in document and update my TOC
it goes back to the times new roman. It hapens every time I do this. I
end up having to highlight and manually change the font.

How did you create that TOC? I presume that if you inserted it via the
insert menu, you need to select "from template" and not some of the
MS-prepared styles ...
