Trying to create a multi-level bulleted list isn't working
in Word 2002. When I tab in to get the next level, the
bullet doesn't appear. I believe there is a setting for
this somewhere but I can't remember where it is !

Outlines, by default, use the heading paragraph styles. You need to format
the style of the particular level to provide the bullet/number.

For Word 2002 and later: Choose Tools > AutoCorrect, and on the
AutoFormat As You Type tab, select "Set first and left indent
with tabs and backspaces."

Thanks - what is the trick to get this to work in a
Table ?  When I hit Tab, I move to the next cell....

In a table cell, you can use ALT+SHIFT+Right Arrow to change to
the next lower level and ALT+SHIFT+Left Arrow to change to the
next higher level in a multi-level numbered or bulleted list.
(These shortcuts work outside of tables as well.)

Ordinarily in tables you use Ctrl+Tab and Ctrl+Shift+Tab for the equivalents
of Tab and Shift+Tab outside tables, so I would think those would work as
well.

Hi. What about Word before 2002?

For Word 2000 and Word 97: On the Edit tab of Tools > Options, make
sure that "Tabs and backspace set left indent" is selected.
