I cannot get Word to find and replace text in footers across section breaks.
Is this possible?  If so, how?  I see the checkbox for find across section
breaks, but it doesn't appear to have an effect across section breaks.

I am not familiar with a checkbox for finding across sections breaks.  Where
did you see it?

The following article may help you:

“Using a macro to replace text where ever it appears in a document including
Headers, “ at:

Thanks...

The checkbox was under "Advance" in the Find dialog box.
