Is there a field code of some sort which I can put in the
header of a document which shows the most recent table of
controls entry and says "Continued"

So if I have a table of contens like this:

#   Name     Pg#
1  Chap 1      3
2  Chap 2     10
3  Chap 3     15 (through 20)

Then:

* the header of pages 3 - 10 would say "Chapt 1 (ctd)"
* the header of pages 11 - 15 would say "Chapt 2 (ctd)"
* the header of pages 16 - 20 would say "Chapt 3 (ctd)"

Each entry is formatted as "Heading1", it is only
one "level" deep.

Tips?

As usual, I found an easy fix in Google archive--sorry for
being a bother; if it helps, I actually tried that method
1st but didn't find anything, did find something AFTER
searching.

Simply enough, in the header of your document, you enter
this:

{STYLEREF "Heading 1" }

It's a "merge code;" you get the bracket not by typing it
(or copying-pasting) but by typing CTRL-F9 (many of you
know that, but just in case someone else is seeing this
who doesn't know).

Your reply post for the benefit of others is appreciated. I was just about
to post you that method.  :)

Actually, this is not a "merge code" but a field. You can find more about it
in Word's Help under "Field codes: StyleRef field."
