Hello all,
I'm hoping that someone can help me. I'm using Word XP. I'd like to add
page numbers, but want to to have a break (in format, number, and location)
in the middle of the document. I'd like the first X pages to use roman
numbering, centered on the bottom of the page. Then for the remaining X+1
pages, I'd like to have arabic numbering on the upper right, but starting
at 1 again.
So it would be something like this:
i
ii
iii
1
2
3
4
...
with the roman and arabic numbers having different locations. Is this
possible?
Thanks,
- Dave

Headers & footers are section formatting, so you need to
insert a section break in order to get different headers
and/or footers. Make sure that the "Same As Previous"
feature is unclicked; that unlinks the headers and
footers. Then go to Footer - Section 1 and insert your
page number using the # button on the Header/Footer
toolbar and center it. Then go to Header - Section 2 and
use the same procedure to insert your arabic number on
the right. There is a button on the H/F toolbar for
formatting the numbers to roman or arabic and starting
the arabic numbers at 1.
Hope this is helpful.
