Printing as Final SHowing Markup crashes, Final does not

I have a document that crashes Word (XP) whenever it is printed unless
"Final" is selected on the reviewing toolbar, and the changes are not
in balloon format. Any other combination of "Display for Review"
options and balloons on or off crashes Word. Turning track changes on
or off does not matter. And I can not just accept changes (how would
that print differently from "Final" anyway?).

I'd like to print showing at least the change bars. Any ideas on how
to print showing markups?

The doc is from a customer (in France) and proprietary so I can not
forward.

One odd thing. There is a reference in the VBProject to "Normal" that
is not the normal template. The fullpath points to a non-existent file
in the same folder where the file in question is located (in my case
"C:\Temp\Normal"). And I was unable to remove the reference (it is
considered the default template). Nor could I change it to point to my
normal template at C:\Documents and Settings\..... There is no code in
the VB project.

Thanks is advance for any help, though I'm not holding my breath.

Hi Mathew,

If it's just this one document, then chances are it's damaged. What you
describe in the VB Editor tends to substantiate this.

What you can try:
   - create a new document
   - make sure track changes is OFF in both documents
   - select all but the last paragraph mark in the problem doc
   - copy and paste to the new document
