On several of my documents, I am unable to set tab stops
at certain intervals.  For instance, I try to click on
the .5" mark to place a tab and it actually puts it in
at .58".  I am unable to drag it back over to the half
inch mark, however, I am able to double-click on it to
correct it but I don't understand what is causing the
problem in the first place.  Any ideas?

Linda,

Could  be "snap objects to grid" is set.
View>Toolbars>Drawing.  Click the Draw menu and then grid
to view/change the setting.

You can usually get precise control of postioning the TABs
if you hold down the ALT key while placing with the mouse.
