Alphabetizing a list

I am working on a document in WORD and need to know if
there is a way to alphbetize a list of names by first
letters.  Does WORD contain this function, if so, how do
I do it?

Look at the
 Table >> Sort
command.

Happily, this works either if the data is in a Word table, or if it's in a
bunch of contiguous paragraphs.

(I have Word 97.)
