I am using Word 2002 and WinXP Pro

I have a 12 page document.  I do not want the header or footer to show on
the first page.  On the last page (pg 12) was a blank page.

In page 2,  I inserted a footer and header, the page number is in the
footer.  I checked "different first page".

Initially everything seemed OK.  However when I inserted a picture doc file
in page 12, I see a difference.  First the header and footer do not display.
When I add the footer page number to page 12...I noticed that the footer now
appears in first page although I checked "different first page"

Nick, it sounds to me like page 12 is the first page of a second section,
which also has the "different first page" option set, and the first page
footer in that second section is linked to the first page footer in the
first section.  Try this: open the footer on page 12.  Look for the 'Same as
previous' button on the Header and Footer toolbar.  Click it so it becomes
unhighlighted.  Now go to page 1 footer, select all, and delete.

Regards,
Chad
