Italicize Heading Text But Not The Number

In our Word2000 documents, we use Heading Styles to number
multi-level paragraphs. In one type of document, we would
like the Heading 2 style to italicize the text but not the
heading number. Since we include Heading 2 paragraphs in
our Table of Contents, we must apply Heading 2 styles.

Any ideas?

Christina,

Format the Heading 2 style as italicized.  Then modify the Heading 1 style
(you should always modify the numbering of heading styles by going through
Format>Style>Heading 1).  In the Modify Style dialog, Format>Numbering.  In
the Bullets and Numbering dialog, click Customize.  In the Customize Outline
Numbered List dialog, click on Level 2.  Click the Font button, and set as
Regular.  OK out of all the dialog boxes.

Regards,
Chad
