Hi, I am trying to set the default language to English
(New Zealand). The confirmation certainly indicates that
the setting is updated. The problem is that it stays at
English (US). Unfortunitely this affects the spell checker.
I have opened the Normal.dot and set the Normal style to
English (New Zealand). But it shows as US in the Status
bar and for spell checking.
What I have noticed is that the insertion point shows as
Normal style; yet US in the Status bar. However, if I
extend the selection to include the paragraph marker it
shows as New Zealand in the status bar.
Any ideas or suggestions to resolving this appreciated :-)
Thanks
Jonathan

Just to make sure it's set in Normal, go to Tools | Language, click English
(NZ) and click Default. This will fix all new documents, making NZ part of
the format for the Normal style.
For already created documents, select text, go back to Tools | Language, and
click English (NZ), then OK. (e.g. direct formatting)
OR modify the Normal style in old documents to include English NZ (e.g.
style-based formatting)

Hi Jonathan,

You'll find an article describing how to get control of
Word's language formatting in the Tips section of my
website. Basically, you have to start at the WINDOWS level.
