I am using Microsoft Prof XP and Word 2002.  My
employer needs me to send her plain text documents
as an e-mail attachement.  However, when she goes
to open my attachement it only opens into the body
of the email, not in word.  Any suggestions on what
I am doing wrong?

Does she want the EMAIL to be plain text? Or the attachment?
If the email, then open your email program and go into the options and make
the email format plain text. I assume that's what she wants.

**** Hope it helps! ****

No, she wants the attachment as plain text.  I am creating it in word as
plain text but when she goes to open the attachement, it opens into the
body of the email rather than bringing up word.

Hi Kathy

Is that a TXT-file or a DOC-file with only Normal or Plaintext style used?

You mean you (in Word) save as Plaintext in Word, right? That results in
a *.txt file here. And it is always the Windows system that decides what
happens to a certain type of file on events like double-click. The
default action is most generally not to open this file in Word, but in a
text-editor (Notepad, for instance). Additionally, her email client
might have its own preferences of what to do with certain types of
attachments.

So, in essence, maybe you did just right and your counterpart should
simply not doubleclick the file but save it first and then open it in
Word; or she ought to update her specifications.

Then, as I said, why would you or she expect Word to open this file as
per default ...?
