Can you rearrange the way categories are displayed in
Table of Authorities?

Hi

In what way do you want to rearrange the categories? What are you seeing,
and what would you prefer to see.

And, what version of Word are you using?

I have Word 2002 on Windows XP machine. Table of
Authorities puts cases, statutes, etc. I want to know if I
can control the order, for example, I may want statutes
before cases.

Hi

You can just cut and paste to move them around. But if the tables of
authorities are long, that can get a bit tricky.

First, you'll need to delete the existing Tables of Authorities. So it might
be a good idea to create a backup of your document in a safe place before
you start.

Having deleted the existing Tables of Authorites, click where you want the
first Table to be. Insert > Reference > Index and Tables. In the Category
box, choose the one you want first (eg Statutes). Make any changes you need
in that dialog box and click OK. Now, click where you want the next Table of
Authorites to be, and repeat.

Hope this helps.

Yes it does.  Thanks, we'll try that.
