I had the same problem recently. As I recall, they told me to put in a
paragraph break. Then change the style for (A) PET Scan (B) CT Scan (C)
SPECT/CT from Caption to something else and then format the paragraph break
to HIDDEN.
Yes! it works!
Thank you very much

I have a similar problem, can you please explain a bit
more how to do this? In particular,

I presume this paragraph break is in the caption itself,
not in the TOC?

How to make the paragraph mark hidden? Also, would doing
this still show the actual caption as it should be, and
only affect the things in the TOC?
Thanks

Lets say your caption reads
Figure 1 Caption 1 + Other information.
You only want Figure 1 Caption 1 to display in the TOC.
After Caption 1, you put in a paragraph break.
You then change the style for + other Information from Caption to something
else (NORMAL?)
Then you format the font for the paragraph break that you entered so that
it's hidden.

Thanks for your reply. The things are much clear to me
now, and are working for me. I still have some queries:
>You then change the style for + other Information from Caption to something
>else (NORMAL?)
Is it essential? It works in my case even without doing
this. Is it doing something which I can't make out?
My second query is: When I try to find the hidden text in
the document using Edit>Find>More>Format>Font and then
checking Hidden (and keeping the Find box empty), it
doesn't find the hidden paragraph mark. Any ideas? (Word
2000).

I have found the solution to my second query : The Find
works for the hidden text only when the Show/Hide button
is active.
