Keep words together

Hello,

I have a problem with keeping some words together so they do not break
when they reach the end on a line.

I found one way to do this but I would like to know if someone knows
another way.

For example, let's say that I want to write: 350 mV and that this word
is at the end of line and the mV gets yanked on the next line. I want to
have a space between the "350" and the "mV"

My method is to removed the space, select the "0" of the "350" and
change the character spacing to expanded 3 pt.

This works fine.

However, if I have two words, for example, "in vivo" that I want to keep
together and not break of on two lines. If I apply the method explained,
Word will believe these two words are only one word. Is there a way to
make word believe that these two words are separated and to kkep them
together when they are close to the end of a line?

Thanks

Stefan

Use a non-breaking space! CTRL+SHIFT+Space.

You need a nonbreaking space. You can type one by pressing Ctrl-Shift-Space

Thank you for your suggestion!

Is there an issue in changing the character spacing like shown in my
initial post below?

thanks

Yes. Pressing Ctrl+Spacebar will remove the extra space (which makes the
document more difficult to maintain, especially if anyone other than you
will be touching it). A nonbreaking space is the correct way to accomplish
this task.
