TOC strange indent

In using Word 2002, XP, I followed the directions of Dave
Rado's article "Whenever I update my Table of Contents it
acquires unwanted tabs..." to make sure there was
no "jason tab" (except for using the macro because the
strange tab was only in there once and it looks like a
manual tab) I cleared all tabs from the Style, made sure I
used From Template and Automatically Update is definitely
not checked anywhere yet this strange tab (looks like I
put it in there manually) keeps showing up in the TOC 1,
2.0 but nowhere else in the TOC. I even deleted the whole
TOC, started from scratch but it keeps indenting.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Regina

If the TOC style is indented, this has nothing to do with tab stops. Did you
check the style for paragraph indents?
