I've placed cross-references to various bookmark text in my document footer.
In previous versions, the cross-references automatically updated when I
opened the file. However, in Word 2003 one of my cross-references is no
longer updating automatically. The others still do. Any ideas why?
Thanks.

delete it and re-insert it. It may have some corruption in it. Also
try a maggie: cuttenpaste everything except the last para mark in
every section to a new document.

I tried both of these options, and neither has resolved the problem. Any
other suggestions? None of the cross-references is automatically updating.
The cross-references are in document headers and footers, and are
referencing bookmarked text fields on the first page.
Thanks.
