Backspace key does not work

Hi, I have been working with MS Word for a while; but recently, I got this
"troublesome issue": My keyboard is prefect, nevertheless I cannot delete
selected text using the backspace key as before, I reinstalled MSO, did look
at MSO help but nothing happened.
Dou you know how to solve this?

"This was a simple fix, I forgot to post once I figured it out. All I
did was open MS word go to TOOLS then to OPTIONS then to the EDIT tab
and rechecked the "typing replaces section tab" and everything went
back to normal."
