Is it possible to simply rotate a textbox any number of
degrees? I am a math teacher and use word (with MathType
equation editor) for all of my tests, quizzes, etc. Boy
would it be handy to be able to rotate the textboxes when
needed. I don't find wordart particularly useful for
labeling my diagrams. Thanks for any help on this issue.

Unfortunately, no. Text in text boxes (and table cells and frames) can be
rotated only 90 degrees each way.

If you want to keep the text editable - then no, this is not possible, but
there is a workaround at
http://www.gmayor.dsl.pipex.com/rotate_text.htm which you might find useful.
