Is it possible to setup a style that has the numbers in the outline
right aligned AFTER custom text? In other words how can I precede the
outline numbers with text on the same line?

I have Word XP.

Example of what I would like to do:

CHAPTER 1

  What is a Monkey?                   1.1
A monkey is text text text text text
text text text text text text text text

  How are they Formed?                1.2
text text text text text text text text
text text text text text text

In email communication, delete the x from the above given address.

there's no predefined way to achieve this AFAIK.

The first question would be: How would you place the number if the text
on line 1.1 is getting near the end of the line or even exceeds it?
Would you want the numbering on the first line or on the last of the
title-paragraph? Or can you guarantee that the text will never cross,
say, 3/4th of the line?

Depending on the answer, you might try using a right-aligned tab and an
SEQ or LISTNUM-field. Or a Frame. But any solution that deviates from
the built-in Heading 1 (which will always be number first on the left,
then text) will give you headaches with things like table of contents
(TOC-field), live-headers (STYLEREF-field), etc.
