You've discovered part of the reason why that particular marker appears.
Several of the other features in the same dialog are also responsible. For

Just the ticket. I knew most of the stuff in the article but now I know that
the back to front P is called a pilcrow and how to distinguish between
non-breaking, en and em spaces when I see them. I would never have thought
to double click a bullet!
