Linda,
Most scanners show you several settings and only one of them,
the "OCR" setting (optical character recognition) will produce
a file containing you can edit. If you just pressed the SCAN
button this is almost certainly not what it did. All scanners
are different so you'll have to look at the manual that came
with it if it's not obvious from the program window what to
click to scan it in this way.
Finally,
DON'T SHOUT. A MESSAGE TYPED IN ALL CAPS IS HARD TO READ.
IT ALSO MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE YOU'RE BEING YELLED AT. DOESN'T
