how do i fix my tab problem when i am outlining? before it
used to let me use tab for my indents in outling.
ie:
A.
   I.
       a.

like that, now it just doesn't. does anyone know how to
fix that? also it won't allow me to demote it to what i
want when using tab only (not using the Outling Toolbar).

thanks

Look for an option to set indents with the tab key; it's
found on the Edit tab of the Tools > Options dialog box in
Word 2000. I don't know if the setting is in the same
dialog box in later Word versions.

A different way to promote and demote outline numbered
lists (or the built-in headings, even if they are not
numbered) is to use Alt+Shift+left arrow and
Alt+Shift+right arrow, respectively.

In Word 2002, it's on the AutoFormat As You Type tab of Tools | AutoCorrect
Options.

As mentioned in my previous message, in Word 2002, the setting is on the
AutoFormat As You Type tab of Tools | AutoCorrect Options: "Set left- and
first-indent with tabs and backspaces."
