Hi,

I am using Word 2002  and have a 57 page document with a TOC.  My problem is
from TOC5 to TOC8 the automatic update was turned on so I have turned that
off and set up the appropriate tabs, however, when I save it, close it and
reopen the doc the TOCs resort back to automatic update being selected and
the old format.

When you created the TOC, did you select "From template" or one of the fancy
styles? You can modify TOC styles only if you select "From template."
