I am usually able to figure out my problems with
formatting but this one has had me stumped for a while and
it is happening again. We are using Word 2000. When we use
header or footer and insert auto text page x of y, the
page numbering will look correct on the monitor but will
print page 1 of 1 page 2 of 2... I can't figure out what
is happening or how to keep it from happening. I have set
up a template for a document that is 6 pages and when I
use it, sometimes it prints the page numbers correctly and
other times it doesn't. What am I doing wrong? I have gone
in and deleted the header or footer and redid it but it
will still do it.

Hi, Nicole,

It's time to update your copy of Word with a service pack -- this bug was
fixed in Service Release 1a, released three years ago. Word 2000 is now up
to Service Pack 3.

See http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/AppErrors/PageXofY.htm.
