Preserving formatting when copying and pasting

I am working with an outside vendor who is taking several
of my Word 2002 documents and aggregating them into one
large document.

When the documents are aggregated, unwanted styles are
appearing in the newly combined file. Sometimes, style
tags are applied to text at random, while other styles
(e.g., Heading 1) do not retain the original formatting.

I'm hoping there's an easy solution to this that involves
synching my Word options with the outside vendor's. Can
anyone help?

Hi Brad,

Your vendor should really know how to handle this. It is an
intermediate-level Word skill.

He/she needs to copy your styles from your documents to the new document.
They should be copied using the Organizer and should be copied three times!

If you are using the same style in different documents to give different
formatting, you need to rename your styles so that each different style is
uniquely named among your documents. If you are using built-in styles, you
won't be able to rename them but will need to create new styles with that
formatting and then use Replace to change the formatting from the built-in
styles to your new styles.

Hope this helps.
