I cannot seem to get the footnotes to work correctly in my
document.  If I start a new document or try to insert
footnotes in a completed document it will not insert on
each page.  It will only sometimes do the first page and
then put it at the end of the document.  I looked at help
and did everything it said, but still no results.

I would appreciate any assistance.

Thank you.

Hi Mary,
It sounds as though you are inserting Endnotes instead of Footnotes.  When
you go to Insert | Footnote, check the dialog box that appears very
carefully.  If that doesn't work, give more info about exactly what you do
and what Word does.

Mary,

If you are sure that you are inserting footnotes, and they
continue not to appear at the bottom of your page, you
must be aware that footnote appearance is driven by your
bottom margin. If you have not provided sufficient room
for your footnotes to appear, they may be bumped to the
next page. Try setting your bottom margin wider to better
accomodate.

The margin setting has nothing to do with having enough room for footnotes
since they don't appear in the margin space (though the footer does).
