I have Word 2002 on XP. Word crashed while I was working on a very
lengthy document and now the last half of my document has shaded text
that I cannot get rid of. It does not print, just shows up on screen.
I've selected the text, right clicked, and selected Borders and
Shading. It already says No Fill, but I select it anyway. Nothing
happens. Tried the highlighting icon and selected No Fill. Doesn't
work. Not a huge problem, just annoying while working on screen.
I'd also like to say thanks to Suzanne Barnhill! I had several
problems while working on this huge document, and found answers to all
of them...answers you had supplied! You are awesome!!!!!!!

Possibly you're seeing field shading? What happens if you go to Tools |
Options | View and choose "Never" for field shading? Also, if you're seeing
field codes instead of field results, clear the check box for Fields on that
same tab.

That did take the shading off. Thanks for your help!
