Adding user-created tags to cross-reference list

I've got a number of appendices that I need to cross-
reference from the main body.  I have created paragraph
tags for three levels of appendix headings, but none of
them show up when I need to cross-reference to them.  The
only way I can get appendix headings to show up is to use
the standard paragraph tags (Heading 1, Heading 2, etc.)
and then manually type in "Appendix G:  xxx", but then I
end up with headings lke this:  "12. Appendix B: xxx".
Does anyone know of a way to add user-defined paragraph
tags to the cross-reference list?

Hi Tdereg

See How to number headings and figures in Appendixes
http://www.ShaunaKelly.com/word/numbering/NumberingAppendixes.html

For various reasons, it's best to use the built-in heading styles. To
set up the numbering for the heading styles, see

How to create numbered headings or outline numbering in your Word
Document
http://www.ShaunaKelly.com/word/numbering/OutlineNumbering.html

When working through the instructions on that page, you'll get to the
Customize Outline Numbered List dialog. At Level 6 (or whatever you
choose for your Appendixes), in the Number Format box, type "Appendix ",
and then choose the numbering format you want (1, A, whatever).

Hope this helps.
