If you're using the Insert Diagram tools it
has some defaults that are a bit difficult to overcome. :)

Each of the circle elements in the Venn diagram
has a matching text box outside of it for adding
descriptive text.  You can see the text box shape
while dragging to resize the canvas or if you
use the Autoformat button on the Diagram toolbar
and choose the Square Shadows format style.

Those squares are part of the shapes in the diagram
and ungroup isn't available for them so that they can
be deleted manually.  You can resize them and slide them
on top of the circles and the diagram will resize slightly,
but not significantly but even when the squares
are moved on top of the circle the crop tool for
resizing the diagram doesn't function.

If you choose a wrapping style of 'tight' you can use
the Layout=>>[advanced] button to set the distance from
text settings to zero and the text will 'hug' the circles
rather than the canvas outline.  Be sure that the diagram
is selected so that you get a 'Format Diagram' choice
rather than 'Format Autoshape' choice in the menus.

To crop it you can copy it to the clipboard (ctrl+C)
then use Edit=>Paste Special and choose a graphic/picture
format, but it won't be editable after that as a diagram.

You can also create your own venn diagram using the drawing
canvas where the canvas will resize to fit.

1. Insert=>Picture=>New Drawing.

2. Use the Drawing Toolbar and select the oval shape.

3. Hold the shift key while drawing your oval to keep it a circle.

4. Once you have one circle the size you want use
   Ctrl+D while it's selected to duplicate it.

5. Using the drawing toolbar -
  position the circles in the pattern you want manually
  or using Draw=>Align/Distribute initially and check the
  settings in Draw=>Grid if you're not getting the positions
  you want.

6. With the drawing Toolbar use the select objects tool
  (white arrow) and draw a loop around all of your circle
  shapes to select them all.

7. With all shapes selected use Format=>Autoshape
  and select a color, set color to 50% transparency and
  the line size to 0.37pts to match the default in the
  diagramming tool.

8. Select each circle item individually and use the fill
  tool to change the color (the transparency setting will
  stay the same).

9. Add any text you want to the individual circles by right
  click and choosing add text.

10. Select all of the circles (manually or as in step 6)
   and use the Draw=>Group button on the drawing toolbar.

11. Use the Drawing canvas toolbar and select the 'Fit' button
   to resize the canvas frame to your diagram.

1. Resize drawing canvas
When I insert a Venn diagram [PS: Insert/Diagram/Venn
diagram (the one with 3 big circles)]
there are a lot of empty spaces before/after the diagram.

I would like to get rid of them.

However when I resize drawing canvas, the diagram is
going to resize proportionally too.
Large spaces still remains in the edges.
