Making a mail merge does not accomplish what I need. I
need to be able to add and print new labels then resort
the whole list alphabetically. A mail merge does not allow
me to do this because the source document will not work
that way. I would have to enter everything two or three
times.
If you create a mail merge data source, you can print labels for specific
records. You can resort the data source as needed. You may not like it, but
this is the only way to accomplish what you want to do; labels cannot be
sorted because they are set up as a table, and tables can be sorted on only
one row at a time.

Why will my source document not format like the label
document? It is just a list on the left side of the page
and still doesn't sort quite right.

Can you give us an idea of what the list looks like and what you're trying
to sort on?

The list is only 2 columns both on the left side of the
page. I can stretch them to make the characters fit each
field but then it loses the second field from the first.
They have to be together. I would rather have both fields
fit together as close to the label format as possible. It
doesn't have to be exact. Also, when I add labels it skips
a line and/or a label space on the actual label document,
not the source document. I can't cure this either.

You've totally lost me. Would you like to email a sample file for me to look
at? Tell me what size labels you want to use and I'll return a sample mail
merge data source and mail merge main document.

I sent you a copy of my files this morning. Did you
receive them?
