I'm in the same boat Kris- I think the css capabilities on Wordmail are
pretty bad- I've just proposed a stationery design to my client, and they
loved it- but they can't use it because they all use wordmail, and the
stationery file utilised css background and a table background - neither of
these work in WordMail.
Shame...and 'why not' is a great question..

I definitely agree...an email that validates as XHTML strict is absolutely
destroyed by Outlook 2007. This is going to make it very difficult to create
good looking email newsletters.
It seems like a very backward step to remove CSS support almost entirely
from Outlook...why is Microsoft doing this and how do they suggest we work
around it?
I can see this creating huge dramas across the design industry and design
businesses can no-longer offer their clients the css inspired designs that
they are only just starting to love.
