I have a client that cannot open a word .doc file attachement in windows
mail.
the doc files are all associated with Microsoft Word 2003 the office suite
he owns.
He is on Vista Home
I checked in control panel - set associations for files and it is fine there
He can open an attachement excel file, and a graphic file.
When double clicking it and trying to open it, it comes up saying it needs
an associated file name to open it. and to go into control panel- default
programs to fix it. As said I checked here and it is associated correctly
and it will open in windows explorer with no problems.
Got any suggestions on what to try?
thanks

i wanted to tell you I figured it out.
I went into Control Panel / default programs/ associate a file type or
protocol with a program.
I changed the doc file to the program Adobe 8 then closed everything
Went back to default programs/ associate a file or type or protocol, changed
it back to Microsoft Office
Why this doesn't associate in Windows Mail is in the description for this
file it said DOC and when I changed it back after changing it to Adobe
Reader 8- the description now says Microsoft Office.
So if any of you have this problem or come onto this problem in the future
save this because it works!
robin
and in "Set Associations" on .doc to Adobe and then back to Word.
